Did you know?

The development of a significant urban area in Brownsburg was spurred by the arrival of the Orica company, now Orica Canada Inc., in the late 1800s.

Brownsburg is the hometown of late Montreal Canadiens defenceman Gilles Lupien.

It’s one of the largest municipalities in Quebec, covering an area of almost 250 square kilometres.

The name Brownsburg comes from its first inhabitant, George Brown, who built the first sawmill there.

Brownsburg quarries supplied thousands of blocks of granite to the City of Montreal to build the Bordeaux prison and pave the streets of Old Montreal.
