La vie de chalet à l’année
J’ai déménagé de Montréal à Wentworth il y a un peu plus d’un an. Cela faisait déjà un moment que je cherchais une maison dans les Laurentides, bien qu’au départ, mon plan n’était pas d’y vivre à temps plein. Mais quand j’ai trouvé cette place, avec un immense terrain et un petit lac juste en face, je suis immédiatement tombé amoureuse de la région. À ce moment, j’ai décidé de déménager complètement à Wentworth et je n’ai jamais regardé en arrière depuis.
Il n’y a réellement rien de mieux que de se réveiller au son des oiseaux, voir un chevreuil dans la cour et des dindes sauvages marcher dans la rue. Après un bon café sur le balcon à respirer l’air frais, je prends ma planche à pagaie et me dirige sur le lac, où je profite des rayons du soleil. En après-midi, je vais parfois faire des commissions à Lachute ou bien je me dirige vers le parc à chiens de Gore avec Koji, mon chien, pour son activité sociale (la mienne aussi). Finalement, quelle meilleure façon de terminer la journée qu’avec un feu de camp et des guimauves? Chaque jour est un jour au paradis quand on vit à Wentworth.
Bien souvent, les gens me demandent si la ville me manque et pourquoi j’ai décidé de la quitter. Bien que j’aie aimé mes moments à Montréal, la nature m’appelait et j’aspirais à un mode de vie plus calme, loin du trafic et du bruit constant. Les jours où j’ai besoin de faire plus d’activités, Montréal n’est qu’à une heure de voiture.
Si vous êtes à la recherche d’un endroit où vous vous sentirez en vacances en permanence, où il est possible de prendre un moment pour admirer les détails, je vous recommande définitivement de venir visiter Wentworth. Il y a des lacs, des plages, des montagnes et plusieurs petites villes à moins de 30 minutes.
Ici, nous sommes une communauté accueillante avec des intentions près du coeur.

I moved to Wentworth from Montreal just over a year ago. It had been a while that I was looking for a cottage to buy up in the Laurentians. I was not originally planning to move out here full time but when I found my place, with a big yard and just across the street from a small lake, I immediately fell in love with the area. It was then and there that I decided to make the move full time and I have not looked back since.
There is really nothing better than waking up to birds chirping, deer in th e backyard and turkeys walking down the street. After a morning coffee on the balcony breathing in the fresh air, I take the paddle board out on the lake and absorb the rays from the sun. In the afternoon I may run some errands down in Lachute or bring my dog to the dog park (his and my social activity). And what better way to end a perfect night than by starting up a campfire and roasting some marshmallows? Everyday is a day in paradise when you live in Wentworth.
Often people ask me if I miss city life or why I decided to move out to the country. Although I loved my time in Montreal, nature was calling me and I wanted a more peaceful way of life, without traffic and constant noise. On days when I feel I need more activity, Montreal is only an hour drive away.
If you are looking for a permanent vacation spot where you can take a moment to admire the details, definitely come and check out Wentworth. You have lakes, beaches, mountains and small towns all within a 30 minute drive. A very welcoming community where everyone has only good intentions at heart.
